Would You Stay in a Hostel?

I am all about having a breathtaking view from my hotel room as well as having clean sheets. Let’s face it, who doesn’t? Wanting the very best for you is just a way to love yourself. But aka,  the wallet is the one that decides where you stay while traveling.

I couldn’t hold any longer my urge for traveling. As a stay-at-home mom, and writer freelance that I am, my budget was ridiculously tight. Yes, so tight like the mini dresses some girls were wearing in Halloween! So, after looking  for a very cheap, clean and close to attractions hotel on the Internet for days, I came to the conclusion that I wouldn’t find it. Simply, because it doesn’t exist! It was when I remembered my hotel management class in college way back in my late teens. I know, I have gotten a good memory since that was way long back.  But let’s back to the present.  The professor mentioned hostels as a cheap and fun alternative to hotels. So, I searched for “hostels” and my good friend “Google” gave me a big list of very cheap, clean and close to attractions hostels. Bingo!

I read the reviews from these awesome people called tourists and backpackers and chose the Bungalow Beach Hostel. It took me 2 days, 2 calls to the hostel and asking the opinion of my hubby to book my bed. Yes, in a hostel you book a bed in a room, not a room like in hotels. Clearly, because you will be sharing the room with at least 5 total strangers.  That’s why it took me all of that to finally book my bed. Sharing a room with total strangers? What if they are weird or messy or crazy?! Well, the other options were a little more expensive, hotels far away from the beach, which would mean I would had to rent a car or ride public transportation. Neither of them sounded like a good idea since first, I didn’t have the money to rent a car, and second, I wanted to save the chaos riding public transportation sometimes brings.

Bungalow Beach Hostel offered me what I was looking for and way much more. Not staying there would have been a big mistake. I won’t lie, after booking I almost had a stroke because of all the weird things my mind started making up.

One big fat fear turned to be a great unforgettable experience! From the very beginning, I had fun. Got there around 10 am but checking wasn’t till up 2:00 pm. Unlike most hotels, I was able to put my luggage in a locker located in the lounge. No worrying about my bags I immediately headed to the beach.

I shared the room with five girls, loud as hell but nice. They kept the room clean and were respectful.  My bed was very comfy and clean, no stains in the sheets or mattress. The window of my room was directly in the roof so I kept going there to relax and take pictures of the sunsets and sunrises.  Yes, I ignored the, “Don’t go to the roof top ” sign ha ha.
