I Met Paradise: Cliff lake

My idea of paradise is essentially me happy with the ones I love and doing what I like. I picture it with bright colors and natural wonders. My heaven on earth isn’t too far from home, and I drove around five hours to the green turquoise and blue sky of Cliff Lake in Montana.

The beauty of the lake took my breath away. It was love at first sight. I felt the strong desire to jump in and submerge to its power. I would have done it if it wasn’t because I can’t swim. Oh, well, thank you to whoever invited kayaks, boats, and paddle boards.

The different shades of blue and green are reminiscent of the Caribbean waters. The water is a little cold but very refreshing. You won’t freeze, I promise, that’s if you go during summer, of course.

The place is quiet, and you get your dosage of adrenaline by kayaking as fast as you can and far as you want. I enjoyed the occasional visit of cute birds in my picnic area. If you’re lucky, you will spot sandhills cranes, great blue herons, and ospreys.

The serenity of Cliff Lake made me relax and enjoy my time to its fullest. My pink swimsuit popped out against the blue lake.

For those that enjoy photographing landscaping the lake and the surrounding are a perfect subject. Bring your tripod to catch a bird in the air or a fish jumping out of the water.

The lake is family friendly.  Kids have so much fun running around and diving and jumping in the water.

Important things to know:

  • The last 6 or 7 miles are on a dirt road.
    There are bathrooms.
There is a boat ramp on the north end of the lake.
    There are campsites.
  • There is a place close to the lake to rent kayaks, tubes, and paddle board.
