The Grand America Hotel did it again! On May 3rd, it held its third Derby Day Celebration. 100% of the proceeds went to support Utah Food Bank. The lovely and talented Deena Marie Manzanares from Good Things Utah TV hosted.
It was a beautiful and fun afternoon at the Laurel Braerie & Bar. The Kentucky Derby-inspired experience was a great opportunity to explore and enjoy the Southern charm. Some of the yummy signature cocktails were Mint Juleps, Peach Smashes, and Bourbon Smashes, among others. I had the Kentucky one; let me tell you, it was delicious, a perfect balance of fruit and alcohol.
Ladies and gentlemen wore their best Churchill Downs-inspired attire and colorful and unique hats.
While attendees enjoyed the live band playing on the lawn, friendly waitresses passed mouth-watering hors d’oeuvres and an exclusive small bites menu. Right after watching the Kentucky Derby coverage on the terrace TVs, the best hat & best outfit competition started. Congratulations to the winners!
It was a time filled with laughter, friendship, great music, entertainment, and, above all, kindness, which supported The Grand America’s commitment to giving back to the Salt Lake City community.
